Every attempt should be made to minimize the number of X-rays taken for workers. The attending provider or any other person or institution having possession of X-rays which pertain to the injury and are deemed to be needed for diagnostic or treatment purposes should make these X-rays available upon request.
The department or self-insurer will not authorize or pay for additional X-rays when recent X-rays are available except when presented with adequate information regarding the need to re-X-ray.
