Purpose.
The college bound scholarship as authorized by chapter
28B.118 RCW is designed to inspire and encourage Washington middle school students from low-income families to dream big and aspire to continuing their education beyond high school. The early commitment of state funding of tuition (at public rates), required fees, and five hundred dollars intended to apply towards books and materials may alleviate some of the financial barriers preventing students from considering college as a future possibility.
