Hemp rope.

(1) Quality. Whenever hemp rope is used it must be first grade long fiber Manila hemp rope.
(2) Strength. You must ensure that rope is not used to support loads in excess of those given in table for hemp and Manila rope.
(3) Lashed. You must ensure that supporting ropes are double lashed at each point of suspension.
(4) Pads. You must ensure that where supporting ropes are brought over sharp corners of steel, stone, or other material liable to cut the rope, or are in any other way subject to abrasion, they are protected at such points by the use of bagging, wooden blocks or other protective padding.
(5) Knot ends. You must ensure that rope knots have their loose and free ends lashed to the standing part in order to prevent their becoming untied.
(6) Inspection. You must inspect all ropes before used.
(7) Defective rope. You must condemn and destroy rope that is badly frayed, rotted, exposed to the action of acid or caustic, or otherwise defective and unsafe, to avoid all possibility of future use by mistake.
