Governor John Spellman

Governor John Spellman faced heavy pressure from members of Wahsington's congressional delegation who opposed the 1981 redistricting plan passed by the Legislature. Spellman vetoed the measure and asked legislators to revise congressional district boundaries, but he allowed the newly drawn legislative districts to stand.
